Just found out from a very reliable source that Mat Lucas has been
signed once again to do the voice of Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming
animated Star Wars series.
Interesting story: Apparently GL wanted a whole new cast of actors
rather than using the ones from Clone Wars, and Mat had to audition
again even though he'd played the role in the series and in the video
games. Turns out the casting director didn't even know who he was
when he came in to audition (they were even using his Clone Wars
samples as soundalike tracks for the guys auditioning and he was one
of them!), but after hearing him read they picked him again to play
the role.

So, this new animated series is gonna take place before ROTS?
That doesn't sound too good to me, but whatever.

The new 3D computer animated TV show does take place during the Clone
Wars, so yep, it is set before RotS. We don't know yet how (or even if)
it will fit in with the existing animated "Clone Wars" series.
The live-action TV show that going to start work towards the end of
this year (or early next year) will take place between RotS and RotJ,
but since it won't be about any of the main characters it doesn't
really matter how it fits in. :-)

My understanding is that the original Clone Wars cartoon is over, but
I'm not 100% sure about that. I'll check with my source, which is
extremely reliable.

Yes, the "Clone Wars" animated show done by the Samurai Jack team using
drawn 2D animation cells is finished. It started off as animated shorts
and ended up with almost proper length episodes. The whole set was
recently shown here over two weekends as a two-part mini-series.
BUT "there is another".
George Lucas has already started working on his own animated TV show
using 3D computer grpahics that will also be set during the Clone Wars
- there's no word yet on what the title of this show will be. This show
will be something similar to the "Starship Troopers: Roughnecks"
animated show.
As well as that, George Lucas is planning a live-action TV show (ie.
real people acting). If either / both of these are successful there
will be more shows and possibly other spin-off movies.

Yes, I know. This is the reason for my original post about Mat Lucas.
He will once again be voicing Anakin as he did in Clone Wars.
I'm looking forward to both new shows.

The "Clone Wars" animated series was released last year on DVD as two
separate volumes, and may be bought from many good DVD outlets and
webstore like Amazon, and probably second-hand on eBay, etc. ...
although I've never seen them in any shops here in New Zealand and will
soon be ordering mine from an Australian webstore.
As for the new 3D computer animated show set during the Clone Wars,
then George Lucas and his crew have barely started on that and it's not
due to be broadcast (in the US) until later this year of next year.

Mat Lucas is due to begin recording Anakin's parts at the end of this
month so at least part of the production is underway.
