There was a scene in That 70's Show when one of the characters is playing
around with his buddy and intones with a Darth Vader imitation and says
"Luke, I am your father" and the audience laughs.
There is a problem with this. Can someone tell what it is?

Actually I don't think it is a problem in continuity. It is a problem in the
name of the show. The show takes place in the late 70's. As early as the
second season they went to see starwars. The show continued on for 5 more
years and is still on, so they would have to be in the 80's by now. Of
course they can't change the name to that 80's show. It was an unfortunate
title for an otherwise pretty funny show. They should have named it point
place or I love fez

Vista Cruiser would have worked for the early seasons.

Which is technically part of the decade of the 70's, as each new
decade, century and millenium begin in a year ending in 1.

ESB came out in 1980. Though it's not a big deal with That 70's Show since
this is it's final season so it could be set in 1980 right now. 1980 is
actually in the decade of the 70's.

The problem is you have nothing better to do with your time than ask us
stupid questions.
No, seriously, the problem is that Darth Vader never said "Luke, I am your
Father".

???? Yes, he did....well the EXACT thing he says is "No, I am your father"
to Lukes response (about Ben) "He told me enough! He told me you killed
him!".
If you want to be technical, Vader didn't say it, David Prowse didn't say
it - James Earl Jones did, in post production!

I never went to technical school.

I think that's No1ButU's point. It's not exactly what Vader said. And
you know the folks in here are sticklers for getting quotes exact. :-)
