New Book Club Idea. PLEASE read and give me your feedback. [message #203949] Mi, 18 Januar 2006 21:04

Hi Everyone,

I am an avid Star Trek Fan and have particularly enjoyed the books set
from The Next Generation forward. I was hoping I could get some
feedback from some other fans about a service I am considering
starting.

I hate having to go to the bookstore 3-4 times per month and hope I can
catch the new books as they come out. I have always wanted a book club
that would just send me the new books as they come out. Not every
single book, but those series which I like. (Primarily I like TNG, DS9
and New Frontier). I have done some research and I could offer this
service to people and actually SAVE them time and money! I could get
the books, and ship them to people and save them money because I would
only have to charge the cover price and I would not have to charge
shipping OR tax! The discount I would get from the publisher would
cover the shipping and you do not have to pay taxes on "mail
order".

So what do you people think? Would you sign up for a service like this?
You could get just the series you want sent to you as soon as they come
out. I would love to get your feedback. Please Email me at:
krishesson [at] yahoo.com.

Thanks very much everyone. I really appreciate any ideas you have and
for letting me know if you might participate in a service (or
"club") like this so I can figure out if it is a viable idea.

Well, I guess it's a decent idea, but I wouldn't sign up. First, amazon.com
usually gives me free shipping anyway, since I order more than $50 worth at
a time. Second, I like going to the bookstore. I make unexpected
discoveries, and its not a bad place to meet women.

I think you would need to do a web site and get a reliable way to process
payments on a subscription basis - probably paypal would be the easiest.

I'm not sure what service you're really offering. My bookstore gives me
a nice discount on all purchases (as does Amazon for that matter), so I
wouldn't save money. and, as noted below, you do find a number of
pleasant surprised whilst browsing. BTW, in some states you do have to
pay taxes on mail order.

Hey Kris, I think you need to go get your hair done. You need to go to a
place called "Curl Up and Dye!"

This sounds as legit as that fraud group that wanted to save
Enterprise a while back, Trek United, run by Tim Brazeal ,a con guy
with a criminal record of various convictions.

"Meanwhile, Tim Brazeal, the leader of Trek United, admitted to a
criminal background in an unusual posting on Trek United's own message
boards on April 14. Among other things, Brazeal admitted to a Texas
conviction for auto theft based on an incident in 1983, for which he
said he was placed on 10 years of probation and ordered to pay $10,000
in restitution. Brazeal also admitted to a 1979 arrest for marijuana
possession. "I have not been in trouble since this time," Brazeal
wrote, adding: "I was young and stupid, and I learned from my
mistakes."

Yeah, he learned to beg money over the Internet.

Considering smoking dope is a perfectly normal activity for young people
these days, getting caught for it is hardly an indictment of character.
