I was just reading the "fourth draft" script for Episode IV, and I
came to the part where Luke is cleaning the droids in the garage, and
C-3PO says a line that reads, "Our Captain was attache..."
I always thought the line was "Our Captain was attacked," but the
script (at least the "fourth draft" version) says "attache." Upon
viewing the scene, I discovered that he really does say "attache" but
he pronounces it wrong. He says it like "attach." But that doesn't
make any sense. "Our Captain was attach"? The "attache" line makes
sense, since he was on a diplomatic mission, but is that how it's
supposed to be pronounced? Or was it changed again, (I don't know how
many different drafts there were before the final version), and if so,
what the hell does he really mean? Am I missing something here?
Help me, nerds. You're my only hope. LOL?
Love,
Wavy G

You just told someone not to ask a genuinely Star Wars-related question in
a group devoted to Star Wars, but HE is the idiot? Right.

The line was indeed correct as "attache..." but what you missed was that 3PO
was interrupted by Luke asking "Is there any more to this recording?!", so
3PO would have said something like "Our captain was attached to (the
Alderaanian governenment)" or the like.
Lucas' spelling of the line of "attache..." in the script is just to show
that 3PO started to say this but was cut off before he could finsih.

The news had come out in the First World War: The bloody Red Baron was
flying wonce more. The Allied Command ignored all of its men, and
called on "RobMac" to do it again!

Is this actually true, or are you making an assessment? Generally in
scripts, an interruption is denoted by too dashes (--), not an
elipses. Although he was in fact interrupted, and actually, it sounds
like he's saying "Our Captain was attached to..." before Luke starts
talking. But I still find that an odd thing to say, especially after
reading the word "attache" in the script. Captain Antilles *was* a
diplomat, and it seems to fit since Luke keeps inquiring about battles
and fighting...I was thinking, perhaps, Anthony Daniels misread the
line and it just stuck.

It's true. 3PO was about to say that Antilles was attached to something; a
taskforce or diplomatic corps or some such unit.

What else do you expect from a troll?

Now, if we could teach them to quit crossposting, I'd be happy... =)

WavyG is a known long time troll that loves to cross-post gibberish en
masse to many groups that have nothing to do with each other.
Don't be seduced by the dark side.

Oh yeah: "alt.fan.starwars," "rec.arts.sf.starwars.misc." What was I
thinking? Those groups have nothing to do with each other! Gosh, I'm
sorry, guys. I had no idea.
