Anakin's jedi level [message #195424] Do, 05 Januar 2006 13:09

On the revenge of the sith dvd, one of the weapon specialist comments
on the fact that obi wan is a level 8 jedi while Anakin is a level 9
jedi. Has anyone come across these ranking for jedi and if so what
level was dooku, palpatine and yoda. As what level was vader in the
original films.

Well, given that Anakin *IS* Vader, that makes him a Level 9, BUT, having
been burned to a crisp and being a quadriplegic (with robotic limbs) and a
heavy "iron lung" for a costume, I'd say Vader in Ep.4 can't be more than a
4 as far as saber skills......

The Annotated Screenplays talks about GL and Leigh Bracket discussing
different levels of the force and says that they decided that maybe Ben was
a 6, Vader a 4, and Luke a 2 at the end of ESB.

Obviously, those levels aren't on the same scale as the ones you're talking
about though.

What are you basing this off. I think the fact that the original films
didn't have the technology of today, the fight scenes between vader and
luke were chereograph to suit the age. If the films were made now I
think vader would still have some of the lightsaber skills he displayed
against dooku and luke would be almost as adept.

I base it on the fact that Vader in Ep.4 is a severe burn victim kept alive
by an "iron lung" suit who had all four of his limbs amputated and replaced
with robotic arms.....all this HAS to reduce your overall skills a few
points.

I take your point, but vader kills other jedi after episode 3. Are we
to assume that all he came up against were level 4 jedi's or under.
level 4 is padawan status surely. Also to begin with vader had a higher
medichlorian level than yoda, and if you take the comparison that a
nine hundred year old yoda can hold his own against palpatine. Then the
burnt out wreck that is vader can still mix it with the top brass.

There is much more to the power of a Jedi then his physical ability or age.
I would say that's been aptly demonstrated. Vader could have used the force
to make his artifical limbs better than real ones. Or he could have used
the force to slow down his opponent or mess with their mind. The options
are plentiful.
