Many thanks to you and R. Dan Henry for doing these chapters over the
holiday period (and to everyone who has posted chapter introductions so
far in the COTW discussions of The Silmarillion). At the time of
writing, the initial discussion of chapter 7 (Of the Silmarils and the
Unrest of the Noldor) has been posted by R. Dan Henry, and as Chris Kern
says above, the discussion of chapter 8 (Of the Darkening of Valinor)
should follow soon.
Just a few quick reminders:
- Can those posting chapter introductions please remember to cross-post
to both newsgroups (alt.fan.tolkien and rec.arts.books.tolkien) - I seem
to remember that some people may have technical problems doing this, but
maybe I am thinking of the discontinued AOL service?
- Can those posting chapter introductions please double-check they have
the chapter number correct, and include the name in the title. Getting
the chapter number right is more important, so I'll just point out again
that the chapter number for "Of the Darkening of Valinor" is eight (8),
not seven as in the subject title of this thread. :-)
Now that boring stuff is out of the way, I'm off to read all the latest
stuff posted in the Silmarillion discussion threads, and to catch up on
the last few chapters!
Christopher

My apology. I set it up to crosspost, but at some revision, I guess it
got dropped. I did add alt.fan.tolkien to a couple of my replies to
posts where the crossposting had been dropped. Maybe there should be a
little checklist for COTW starters to go over before they post.
