COTW schedule and apology [message #188978] Do, 22 Dezember 2005 05:50
danhenry
Sorry, it's been pointed out to me that I was supposed to do this week's
Chapter of the Week and I'd lost track. I somehow thought I was doing
Flight of the Noldor -- anyway, I'm quite behind in my reading. I can do
a speed catchup now, but it'll be a couple of days before I can start a
chapter discussion. So if anyone in the reserves wants to step forward,
go ahead, just speak up. Otherwise, I'll post as soon as I can. I
somehow doubt that there will be much activity for the next few days in
any case.

Again, I'm sorry about losing track of the schedule.

It might not be too much of a problem, as there is a scheduled break
coming up anyway (the week beginning 2nd January is the scheduled break,
with the next chapter after the next two coming up on 9th January):

http://parasha.maoltuile.org/

So if Chris Kern is reading this, he and Dan have the next three weeks
to post about the next two chapters ('Of the Silmarils and the Unrest of
the Noldor' and 'Of the Darkening of Valinor').

And everyone else has three weeks to catch up as well! Both with reading
and with posting. I will have some time over the Christmas holidays here
to catch up with some of these chapters (I have still to get round to
chapters 5 and 6).

Of course, after that, the New Year's resolutions start to take
effect... ;-)

Christopher

I suggest that we push the schedule by two weeks, if Yuk can post on
Monday (or at least this coming week)? Otherwise we might push it by
three weeks (which would, of course, allow a bit more discussion for
chapter 14).

What is going to happen with these chapters?

I need to know if I should write my summary of "Of Maeglin" now, because
from June 19 - 29 I will be in Ireland and England. If necessary I can
write it and send it to someone else to post. Of course it would be handy
to put it off until after my trip, so I can practice my music more. :-)

This has turned into an unplanned break in the schedule (I still have
chapters 13 and 14 to reply to, anyway <G>), and I think we can allow
you some time for musical practice ;-)

Right now I'm vacillating between pushing it three or four weeks (i.e.
whether to ask you to post ch. 16 on 26 June or 3 July) as I don't know
if someone will have to step in for Yuk. I've tried to mail Yuk, but it
didn't deliver -- now I've tried again with another address.

We need chapter 15 posted early next week at the latest, and if we
can't get in touch with Yuk Tang (he hasn't posted here since 1 May),
we'll need someone to step in.

IF IF IF no one else steps forward, I'll do it, but I'd really prefer if
someone else stepped in this time.

Christopher Kreuzer has kindly offered to introduce this chapter, if
Yuk doesn't step forward before it's ready. He doesn't expect it
finished until about Wednesday next week. Considering the number of ifs
in the above, I suppose you, Larry, won't mind to leave it to
Christopher?

I shall post an updated schedule this weekend.
