Hobbits are very clean and like tidy holes ( read chap 1 again)

So were bathrooms considered "good" rooms and on the side with a window, or
were they just functionary rooms on the inside of the hole, and allowed to
stink up the place?

In chaper 5 of FOTR, "A Conspiracy Unmasked" the Hobbits all bathe and
seem to have a very good time doing it. So clearly they bathed
regularly when it was possible to do so.
My vote for biggest stinker would have to be Shelob.
