in the scene on DAGOBAH, where obi-wan and yoda talk after luke has
taken off, obi wan says
that the boy is our last hope. to which yoda responds, there is
another. i'm assuming yoda is referring to leia.
hehe, did obi wan forget about leia? man, he's gotten senile. he was
there when she was born and when bail organa adopted her.
man, talk about goof, which probably should've been corrected in the
ROTS.

It's true that Obi-Wan was there when they were born. But at the time
of ESB, only Luke has shown latent Jedi powers. Thus, to Obi-Wan's
point of view, Luke is the last hope since he's the only one with jedi
powers capable of going up against Darth Vader and the Emperor.
Obi-Wan never watched Leia so he has no idea of her abilities. On the
other hand, he's basically the far off guardian of Luke in Tatooine and
watched him grow and show his latent jedi abilities at a young age.
Leia's talents are in terms of leadership ability. Her jedi powers are
implied at the end of ESB (where she manages to receive Luke's
telepathic SOS). However, she does exhibit limited powers in the novels
set after ROTJ.

That or he's being VERY pessimistic.
I can see it now...
"That boy is our only hope."
"No, Leia there still be hope in."
"Like I said, that boy is our only hope...."

Yes Yoda is talking about Leia.
Also, on his death bed in ROtJ, his last words to Luke are "Pass on what you
have learned...There is another Skywalker...".

I just always assumed that, because he was a boy, he was automatically
stronger than her.
