Why is your playing so out of time? When you were recording, did you
have your guitar levels up so high you couldn't hear the drums?

Lots of music - sometimes even pop/rock - is played off the beat for
effect. It makes the music less predictable.

out of time? sorry, i usually confess my mistakes but this is NOT out of
time. There are a few mistakes, but generally, the song is in time. Try
tapping your finger(or your foot or whatever) as a metronome--what do you
get - the cymbal(hi-hat) in the centre.. but if you expected the drums to
be kick-snare-kick-snare, sorry, it ain't gonna happen

Not the drums - your guitar playing son! And it's no consistant, like
playing a groove behind the beat to lay it back, or ahead of it to push
the beat. Just sloppy, like every over-zealous glam metal player that
has ever been.

Sorry that you CAN'T hear it!

You really suck. It's not the tabular mistakes, either. You're ahead of
the beat... rushed. Practice up!

It sounds really good. It's a pity that some people get jealous and try
to knock it. Anyone who thinks it's totally crap just doesn't appreciate
a 'rock' sound (or the fact that not everyone with a guitar intends to
play perfectly).

It DOES sound kind of glam metal - which is not really supposed to be
beat perfect.

The guitar tone is awesome by the way...reminds me that I need a better
electric guitar someday.

It sounds like a version Metallica do live...I have an MP3 somewhere and
I used to be able to play it...but I forgot. I also forgot a really cool
finger-picking main Star Wars theme, but I'm hopeless at finger
picking anyway...

thanks man, i'm glad you like it. I don't understand these people that bash
this so much( i can't understand how anyone could be jealous of this, it's
a really simple riff to play). I'm not saying that it's excellent or
anything like that(god forbid), but i think that it sounds okay. Well,
about 50 or so people(guitarists) told me that they really like it (check
harmony-central amps forum if you like, there are some more on local
croatian forums na newsgroups), noone told me that it's off beat/time or
anything like that. And it's not like they don't bash anyone - i got pretty
bad reviews on one of my earlier recordings where the drums and guitars
were totally out of sync (i recorded that in 3 am and guitars were 4/4
while the drums were 5/4, i thought it sounded cool that way. but when i
listened to it after some rest and sleep i couldn't understand how on earth
did i ever think it was okay :))
There are some mistakes, and that's for sure. The reason for that is that i
learned to play this about 10mins prior to recording, and i didn't feel
like recording it again, i'm lazy ;)

Thanks. It's my les paul studio and my new amp, Mesa/Boogie Studio 22+,
recorded direct... actually, it's only the mesa's preamp, i ran a cable
from it's preamp out (fx-send) thru boss ge-7 graphic eq and then to my
sound card. I put voxengo boogex VST cab sims

I've never, ever heard a bad version of the Imperial March. It is

Oh yeah, you're right - I'm jealous.

I think it's a shame that people are so sensitive to criticism these
days. When I started playing 27 years ago, I craved honest critique.
The last thing I wanted was someone blowing smoke up my ass.

Thankfully I had a hard taskmaster as a teacher. The lessons he taught
me is what made it possible for me to make music my living for a time.

I apologize if Mrmot doesn't like the criticism - but hey what does
he want people to say? Yeah man that was hot, you're better than Vai,
Malmsteen and Satriani put together.

The only way someone gets better it honest criticism.

Not once did I say it was shit - I gave him enough info to focus on,
so that he can perhaps make it better next time.

Listen to BB King, Dave Gilmore, SRV or Hendrix - now there is a lesson
in tone.

Seems okay to me. I think the guy who feels it's off the tempo is way
off the mark. Like you say, it's just a simple theme, not exactly on
the level of trying to play Hora Staccato on the guitar.

My only "critique" is the the 16th notes sound a little sluggish at
points. Not sure if that's a feel you were going for or if you're still
working on facility on the instrument.

It's "obvious" because you say so?

I have a hard time believing you've been playing for 27 years, I wouldn't
have guessed you to be older than 15. More accurately a pissed off
15-year-old with little self-confidence who's incapable of handling
disagreement with maturity. So, instead we find out you're middle-aged,
refusing to relinquish adolescence, perhaps a bit resentful that the
universe never discovered your enormous talent?

And what was the zenith of your illustrious performing career? House band at
the Holiday Inn or whatever they have in Australia? Road band for some
washed-up rocker trying to squeeze the last bit of mileage out of their
career? Official guitar instructor for House Of Guitars in Wherethehell
Australia?

No matter, given your reactive tone and apparently questionable musical
judgement, I'd say he should take your advice with a substantial grain of
salt.

Hey Junior, there are ways to state something without coming across like an
asshat. This is a concept you're clearly unfamiliar with. You seem to claim
some great insight that supposedly warrants your ill-tempered pissing and
moaning. All we know is you claim to have been playing guitar for 27 years

difference between playing for 27 years and playing one year 27 times.

What a total fucking nimrod you are. Your intellectual impotence is
only outweighed by vivid imagination. Your inaccurate assumptions of my

Public forum or not, I asked for no comment from you - he, on the

way he anticipated, but he acknowledged at least some fault in his
'magnum opus'.

Your misconduct extends beyond your inability to understand simple
statements without attaching emotion to them - so any comments you
venture to extend on the subject of psyche should perhaps be directed
at yourself first.

You're a trouble maker, with nothing of true substance to offer -
that is why you tender unprovoked attacks on others. What is now
obvious is the sad, insignificant existence you apparently call your
life.

So pathetic you are, to try to disparage someone to the point of making
conscience attempts at personal humiliation. Sad is the fact that your

All I can do is laugh at your feeble communiqu=E9s - you retarded imp.

Hey chuckles, if you'll check, fact is, I didn't address you. I told the OP
that I felt someone else's assessment was off the mark. I didn't even
recall who it was that said it, just that I had seen a comment to that
