I caugth this to begin with too, but what I gather from what I saw in
the movies is that Yoda is the primary school teacher for all and then
they get a master/mentor to themselves for padawan training.

Of course I could be completely wrong too, that is just the explanation
I came up with after seeing what I did.

True. But Yoda taught the kids (as seen in Ep2). Plus Qui-Gon died
13-15 years before Ep3, so I'm sure Yoda probably helped him out in his
days as a full-fledged Jedi Knight.

Not to mention the training Yoda gave Obi-Wan regarding communing with
Qui-Gon thru the Force between Eps 3 and 4.

Yoda was Dooku's "Master/Teacher"
Dooku was Qui-Gon's "Master/Teacher"
Qui-Gon was Obi-Wan's "Master/Teacher"
Obi-Wan was Anakin's "Master/Teacher"

They in turn had multple Padawans along the way.

As you can see from above . . . Yoda, in a very indirect way, taught Luke

ROFLMAO!! Indirect?? And all that time on Degoba (sp?) was for what then??

Yoda taught Luke directly and intensely, much *more* so than Obi-Wan did in
the few days he had Luke.

Wow, I can't believe nobody has ever thought of this before! You
would have thought something like this would have been discussed to
death by now, but you're the first person to ever bring it up! Cheers.
Hey, here's something else we can "stew" on: How does Leia remember
her mother--her REAL mother--if she died giving birth?

Questions like these are beginning to frustrate me! It's been said
thousands of times that Sifo-Dyas ordered Leia to remember her real mother
just before he died at the hands of Darth Plageius.

Not completely true and irrelevant anyway since that quote is Obi-Wan
talking to Luke. :-)

It was Obi-Wan saying this to Luke, but Yoda did not teach Obi-Wan.

According to the films Qui Gon Jin trained Obi-Wan not Yoda :-(

Re-read that line, it says "Yoda did not train *ANAKIN*". It doesn't
even mention Obi-Wan..

> According to the films Qui Gon Jin trained Obi-Wan not Yoda :-(

:-\

If you're one of those dumb enough to want "movie only" sources, then
we know Yoda teaches younglings (and possibly other Jedi classes as
well) and probably did teach a young Obi-Wan at some stage.

For those with more intelligence and common sense, we know Yoda is
considered the wisest of the Jedi and has been a Jedi far longer than
any of the others. Even the Jedi Masters continue to learn from Yoda.

Just like we do at school, the Jedi have many teachers during their
lifetime. Obi-Wan may have considered Yoda his most influential
teacher, as well as because Yoda was the only one still alive for Luke
to train with.

It's been a while, and I may misremember, but in ESB didn't Yoda
complain to Obi-wan that Luke was not trainable? And Obi-wan said
that didn't Yoda remember that he just as bad as Luke way back when?

YODA: (irritated) I cannot teach him. The boy has no patience.

BEN'S VOICE: He will learn patience.

YODA: Hmmm. Much anger in him, like his father.

BEN'S VOICE: Was I any different when you taught me?

YODA: Hah. He is not ready.

LUKE: Yoda! I am ready. I...Ben! I can be a Jedi. Ben, tell him I'm
ready.

YODA: Ready, are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years
have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be
trained! A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious
mind. (to the invisible Ben, indicating Luke) This one a long time
have I watched. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was
doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh! Excitement. Heh! A Jedi craves not these
things. (turning to Luke) You are reckless!

BEN'S VOICE: So was I, if you'll remember.

YODA: He is too old. Yes, too old to begin the training.

LUKE: But I've learned so much.

YODA: (sighs) Will he finished what he begins?

LUKE: I won't fail you -- I'm not afraid.

YODA: (turns slowly toward him) Oh, you will be. You will be.

He's possibly also having a sneaky "nyah nyah" at Obi-Wan - Yoda sai
Anakin was too old to train and yet Obi-Wan decided to train him
anyway.
