Learning To Fly [message #160347] Mi, 02 November 2005 14:36

When I woke up this morning, an odd thought occured to me. I'm living
most of my draconic life inside my dreams (maybe that's not so strange,
considering my name). I say this because, although each dram may be
completely different otherwise, as I progress through my dreams, I find
myself flying more often and with greator skill and control each time.
It's as if I really am a young dragon who is learning to fly. Last
night I was actually aware of the shift to my dragon form for the first
time, rather than seeing myself as a human, awkwardly flapping my arms.

That's Awesome!

Dreams of flying, IMHO, are some of the best. And having a series of
dreams in which you're learning to fly, are beyond cool.

I've always had the thought that we can learn much from our dreams. I
once had a dream in which I realized I was dreaming, so I thought to
myself 'I should learn to fly, maybe it'll carry over to the real
world'. So I conjured up a person that knew everything, and asked him
'How does one fly?' He told me that it's quite simple, but to fly, you
must swim. Imagine that you're a fish, and that you're swimming through
the sky.

I did just that, and I was Flying!!

Needless to say, I have yet to figure out how to apply that to the real
world. I think, that for the moment, I'll just need to keep flying to
my dreams.

But being a fish sucks. So I think that next time I have a lucid dream,
I'll assume dragon form, and experience that.

I often have dreams in which I realize I'm dreaming and gain some
control. What happens is that I start to wake up, realize in the dream
that I am waking up, and stop myself at a point in between sleep and
wakefullness in which I am still dreaming vividly, but thinking
consciously at the same time. I usually just try to bring the dream
around to a happy ending, though... but the very first time I realized
I was in a dream, I did the same as you as far as trying to fly goes,
but I didn't even try to 'learn' how to fly, I just assumed that I
could since it was my dream. I ended waking up right before I jumped
into the air. Obviously I've had a bit better luck since then.

The times i become consious of the dream, I don't take any measure of
control, as it makes me wake up and I'd prefer to stay dreaming the
lovly dream I'm dreaming.

Alas, I don't dream, so I can only live these fun times through the
experiences of others.....

I don't often remember my dreams, but I have experienced waking dreams
of the sort you are describing, and I've since been told that such
dreams and waking dreams are often the mind's way with dealing with the
soul's memories. Dreams hold great power to me, because for some
reason I have the ability to see what another person is talking about
or what I'm reading as though it were happening in front of me. In the
past, I have been able to pick out details that were noticed but not
mentioned. I've heard this called "clairvoyence," and it's allowed me
to help people before.

That all may have sounded rather pointless, but having read what you
wrote, I believe that your astral body is traveling in your sleep, and
you are remembering the events as dreams. So, IMHO, you /are/ a young
dragon who is learning to fly, and at the same time you are a human who
is learning more about her astral body and how to control it. And as
far as that goes, I should say "congratulations," because that's quite
a step! ^_^

And if I sound like I'm crazy, and you can't believe a word I just
said, then don't worry about any of it, I don't mind if you write me
off as insane *grins*

No! It makes perfect sense, or I'm insane too (which sometimes I
don'tndoubt much). Thank you, though. What you described was along
the lines of what I was thinking, but I hadn't quite reached that
conclusion yet. Resently, a friend said I should learn to astral
travel, snd then I read a book that talked about it, so it's been on my
mind quite a bit. Therefor, it's not surprising that I've been doing
it my sleep. lol
