Go get Battlefront 2! (Or if you have an X-box, play the demo on the DVD
:O)
I managed to get my hands on it last night and stayed up way too late
playing it. If you judge a game by sales, then Battlefront 1 was the best
Star Wars game ever. Battlefront 2 is even better!
The graphics are slightly improved. The ground battles are even more dense.
And while the space combat is a little funky at first, it is much better
than I thought it would be. You get to play the main characters this time,
rather than watching them run by like they did in the first one. I mean you
can't really have a Star Wars game without some saber throwing :O)
This game captures the spirit and scope of Star Wars better than any other
Star Wars game that I have played.
Oh yeah, you get to play the battle over Courscant from the opening of
Episode 3. Sweet!
Excelsior!!!

I disagree. I already posted a thread to this NG what I think of
Battlefront 2. All Lucas Arts had to do was throw some new missions in,
cough up some semblance of a storyline, and they had a winner. Instead,
you've got a game that actually has worse graphics than the first, and feels
like it was released 3 months early.

Using XBox here, graphics are just as good, if not better than the
first. I assume that if the graphics really are worse for you, it must
be specific to the Playstation version.

Played it some more tonight...not as bad as I made it sound early on, just
took some getting used to. Graphically, in some parts it is better.
Sometimes it just looks...grainy or unfinished. Still, much better than I
gave it credit, and I'll probably be playing it pretty hard tomorrow. :)

By the way, what is with this "Bothan spy" crap? The Rebels have a unit
that is completely invisible, can walk up on you, and kill you with a poison
gas attack in seconds??? Ridiculous.

Obviously, we need to test it more, to insure a well-informed critique. :-)

Having played it some more, I'd say I was right on the first time. The
Bothan Spy is a cheap, cheap unit, and there doesn't appear to be any kind
of defense against it. It certainly is better graphically. But, to say
that AI in this game is improved is ridiculously inaccurate. In fact, the
bots are incredibly stupid. Enemy bots just come running at you guns
blazing. Sure, you'll kill them, but they'll kill you also. The first
Battlefront wasn't unbalanced...why the need to change the characters so
much? The Dark Trooper was a bad ass in the first game, he's just about
worthless now. The space missions are the epitome of redundant. You've
played one, you've played them all.

I can't believe you're entire judgement of the game is based on your
dislike of one character. I haven't had any problems with Bothan spies.
Their guns are different, and can be quite useful. If you're part of the
Empire, they can be quite hard to kill, when you can't see them (like
when playing as a member a the 501s on Yavin).
I can tell, you went straight to instant action. Try Rise of the Empire.

I'd say the Bothan spies guns ARE quite useful. Almost too useful. There's
nothing worse than being involved in a heated battle, only to be gassed by
an invisible enemy. I'm still playing the game, because I really, really
want to like it as much as the first one. I wish there was some kind of
counter measure, or some way of knowing the Bothans are coming.
