Well, they've done it again. As one fellow Tory MP said,
"There should be a numeracy test," said Ann Widdecombe crisply. "If you
can read an opinion poll, why are you voting for anyone except Ken
Clarke?"
In a four horse race, the only candidate acceptable to the general
public has been eliminated in the first round, because he's
unacceptable to the Conservative party.

Indeed. I am amused and relieved at the same time. Perhaps Cameron will turn
out to be the saviour of the right, but I doubt it.

Perhaps because they don't like ID cards and the National Identity=20
Register (he is in favour) and distrust his extensive links with the=20
tobacco industry.

I suspect Ken's 'acceptability' was largely due to the 'I'm not Michael=20
Howard, but at least you've heard of me' factor, and that if he had=20
become leader other factors would have made him another vote-loser (the=20
'yes, I was a senior cabinet minister under John Major' factor, for=20
example).

Who needs the Tories when you've got Tony Blair?

Who needs the Tories *or* Tony Blair when you can quite easily head down
town of an evening and get your teeth kicked in.
It's all the same when it comes down to it.

We've said goodbye to two weakest links. My money's now on David.

And George Orwell's real name was Eric Blair. Any relation to Tony?

Perhaps the key is that Britain's survival as a distinct state
depends on installing as Euroskeptic a government as possible,
as fast as possible??
