Did anyone ever try to connect Jean Ray's gothic novel Malpertuis to Adams'
Dirk Gently novel Tea-Time?
In the novel, if I remember well, a taxidermist has captured the Greek gods
inside human bodies. Gods that have been forgotten by the people and who are
very weak. The novel is not funny or ironical of course but written in the
gothic tradition, but set in... Belgium! (using the old trick of several
manuscripts and /or letters that have been found and assembled by the lucky
finder).
A French/English movie with Orson Welles was made out of it, existing in 3
versions: a 1972 French version that was shown in Cannes, an English version
(with Orson Welles' real voice, but with the French actors dubbed) and a
complete reworked Director's Cut (Harry Kumel, 1973) in Dutch and with 6 of
the roles dubbed by the director! (Kumel always said that the Cannes version
was wrongly edited, due to time / production / commercial problems).

Just wondering...
