Question about new radio series and books [message #137772] Fr, 23 September 2005 21:56

I haven't had the pleasure yet to listen to the three new series yet,
but have a question.

The original radio show of 12 episodes ends with the Man in the Shack
and Arthur taking the Heart of Gold. The 3rd book starts off much
different then the radio show part 7.

So are these new radio series sequels to the books/tv series and did we
ever get any sequel to the actual end of the original radio series?

Someone answered this for me a while ago. No there is no continuation
of that storyline. They basically ignore the events of those 6 episodes
and pass it off as an hallucination of Zaphod's, so they can follow the
book plotlines ..somewhat...if you listen to Trillian and Zaphods first
conversation in Tertiary Phase, they talk about it a little bit.

Thanks. Too bad though. Was a great radio series, the original.

Although it is touched upon briefly in the Quintessential phase as well,
I seem to recall...

Yes, it was, although it wasn't until I read the scripts did I really
understand what they'd done. It appears that they've ignored the
Secondary Phase for quite a while but, like most things in the WSOGMM,
it's not quite that simple...

I'm looking forward to getting the 5-series box set next week. I may
have to tape the first CD, as I can only get 12 CDs in the car, and one
tape.
