Any message that calls for prayer deserves to be mocked. Closing your
eyes and mumbling to yourself isn't going to help anything.

I'd just like to know why smallbrain chose to
grace AFT with his wisdom.

George W. Bush does exist, no just God would allow this.

I don't hate Bush ... I hate what he DOES ... you're damned right I do.
No .. No .. I < do > hate Bush. I hate him BECAUSE of what he does.
So call me a proud Bush Hater.

I have to say that I agree with smallbrain. I have been shocked by the
number of e-mails, posts and other assorted ephemeral online writings
I've read, that were responding to the impact of Hurricane Katrina, and
said things along the lines of:
a) Pray (but nothing else - your post said send money as well).
b) I'm sending healing thoughts your way (but nothing else).
It just makes me think that there is a horde of people out there who
stop to look, get all horrified, think nice thoughts, and then move on
to the next hand-wringing opportunity.
I'm just wondering whether I'm one of them. Without the healing
thoughts, without the prayers and without the hand-wringing. Just the
fascinated horror, the armchair commentary, and, very occassionally, the
donation of some money. And the thought of how I might act if caught up
in a disaster of any kind.

I am completely non-religious, but is there really a reason to belittle
people who truly feel that prayer will do good? For many such people, that
truly is the only thing they have to offer. As well, many people who have
offered prayers have also offered money, food, clothes, and more. I realize
that the physical items and the cash are more important, but if a little
prayer, for someone or by someone, makes any of the victims feel just a
little better about themselves, their circumstances, or their future, then
is it really a bad thing?
Now, people like Pat "toes for teeth" Robertson, that may be another story
all together, but we''ll ignore him and hope God calls him home very soon.

No, and I apologise if anyone took my post that way.
