| Bush Confirms Al-Q'ida link to Katrina and IRA ornithologists [message #132040] |

President Bush today confirmed that White house science advisors have
told him at his breakfast briefing that there is a definite possibility
that Al-Q'ida caused Hurricane Katrina, working closely with the Colombia
Three, the infamous IRA Ornithologists who visited Colombia under false
passports.
President Bush amazed the White House Press Corps this morning by
revealing that Al-Q'ida has developed a new weapon based not on any
conventional WMD but Chaos Theory to strike deep at the heart of his
Presidency in its second term.
President Bush confirmed that the Colombian Ornithologists had gone to
Colombia to study not birds, but butterflies after taking a
correspondence course from the Al-Q'ida controlled University of
Tutenkhamen in Egypt.
The butterflies were released at carefully selected points and using
chaotic principles not fully understood by Western Science, generated and
directed Hurricane Katrina to the weakest point in America's southern sea
defences, Louisiana.
President Bush went on to make an emotional address to the assembled
officers of the Free Press.
"They loved me after 9-11. Now look at me. Criticized in the polls and
even in the fascist, ehrm <smiles> Right-leaning papers that I used to
call my friends."
<steely-eyed stare at several reporters, who visbly pale>.
"This disharminification in my Presid-, Pres- - my time in office had
upset me and my family and I wish it would stop. Just go back to
believing what you're told or we'll have to take measures to set up
another disaster we can control to get our approval ratings back up
again"
<turns round to speak to aide, sotto voce, but the mike picks it up>
"We still have some of the Military grade Anthrax in the West Wing
cooler, don't we?"
<The aide nods, turning pale and President Bush turns back again to the
press, grinning hugely, unaware of what has occurred>
"Because we want to be an efficient Administratification, me and the
guys. Oh, and Condi.
<waves at the National Security person, for it is she>.
So be nice to us in the papers today, y'hear?
<the press then leave the room hurriedly>
===============================================
Well, its about as believable as the reasons given for invading Iraq.

Hey, friend! This is a Tolkien newsgroup. Take your politics
elsewhere, please.

Could you put a tag of some kind on these kind of threads? Like the
spoiler tag some use but with political instead of spoiler.

If you want to keep politics out of it, why tell us
how that sane people hate Bush? Cretin.

Meaning no disrespect, because I share your frustration at the yobbos
who persist in dragging US politics into Tolkien newsgroups, but ...
Right impulse, wrong solution.
The right solution is not to post them here, where they don't belong,
and to post them elsewhere, where they do belong.

"Bush" in the header implies "political".

The problem isn't political debates. The problem is that the first
political comment is generally followed by a thread which has jack shit to
do with political debate but is rather a string of territory-pissing
rivalry, with two sides achieving precisely zip, and being very verbose and
often very insulting in the process.
Of course the initial political comment is quite frequently omitted. It
may be admitted though that sometimes a sub-thread opens, if you can find it
among all the chaff, which does have some interesting content.
