An erstwhile draconic Alfandrian asked me the following on LJ:
"Hey, caught the tail end of a cartoon about a kid who discovers he and his
grandfather can turn into dragons and seem to be fighting ninjas and
stuff...any idea what it's called?"
I don't have cable or satellite...I think this has been mentioned Here
before now and I think it's Disney....
Any couchie dragons able to help?
Arcaton the curious

"American Dragon: Jake Long" is the only one I know of fitting that catagory.
I saw a few episodes. A very interesting series. Even if alot of people do
consider it to be a little kids show.

Never saw, but kinda interested. As we can see on this web site, Jake
can not only transforms into a dragon, but into any creatures. He has
a weird nose... =/
I get a TV tuner next week and I wonder if this show is aired in my
channels.

Actaton asked about a cartoon, and now I'm trying to remember one...
This morning I remembered an oldish cartoon, and because it has been so
long, I've forgotten the title!
It was about a kid who because of a baseball cap type hat (it was red) could
travel thought time portals (a la Time Bandits). One of his companions was
a giant chicken who knew Everything. The "bad guy" could control
spirits/undead. I remember the specifics of two or three episodes, but they
aren't very helpful tidbits.

"Long", actually...
My fledgling is an avid fan of the show, so I record episodes for him to
watch...Cookies for when he has been good. I also monitor the TV programs he
watches, so what he sees is appropriate and he doesn't watch too much. Right
now, he is too young for wisdom to govern his actions, so I must be wise for
him.
There was one episode titled "Shapeshifter", during which he took a potion
so he could turn into a goblin and pick up a sphere of evil from the
Huntsmaster. That potion enabled him for a short time to expand the use of
his shapeshifting powers (normally, he can only turn into a dragon, or the
human boy known as "Jake). During the time that the potion was in effect,
his dragon powers could not be used. (No flight, nor fire breathing). This
information was given during the first five minutes of the program, so it's
not much of a spoiler. :)>
In another episode, titled "The Long Weekend" we learn that, although his
mom is a dragon, she does not have dragon powers. According to her, such
skipped her generation.
If anyone has questions about the program, let me know. Due to my
fledgling's interest, I have seen every episode thus far.

I know, I was making a joke. Lung is a kind of Eastern dragon. };=3)

They're alternative transliterations of the same word, in fact. :)

What times does it show on ToonDisney and ABCFam?
Don't want to ask too many questions as I've only seen a few episodes. Except
for which ones explain the whole "dragon Island" thing?
I am kindof a fan of that show as well.
