The "Dont Crash" documentary was good. The deleted scenes were
interesting but not significant. the rest is garbage.
I'm told the commenaries are good but I haven't felt like watching the
movie again to find out.
And, no, that was not a bitch about the movie, I generally liked it.
I saw it four times when it was out and have had access to a copy for
several months so I'm bored with it for now.

5 hours in and no-one has risked it. Folk really value their lungs these
days, I guess.

I'd like to know if it possible to program a DVD to play tracks in a certain
order. So if you had a film with some cut scenes included as extras you
could watch the whole lot in the right order. Is it possible ?

Yup - Deleted Scenes, and "Really deleted scenes" are both on the DVD.

Hm,

Not sure - Something like that was done with the Alien films in the
Quadrilogy boxset, but that was done in data on the DVD itself, I don't
think it's possible to get a DVD player to do the same thing. I rather
suspect that if you wanted the film with those extra bits, you'd need
to rip it to mpeg, insert the scenes, create a new mpeg-2 and then
recreate a DVD from that. A lot of work for not much benefit...

Anyway, I liked the documentary. The deleted and really deleted
scenes were funny (first time). One thing, I have found is that I like
the film more now than when I saw it at the cinema. I suppose that
because I know what's going to happen and I haven't got expectations of
it now.

Cheers,

Gary

Hmmm... that could mean two things:

1) Deleted scenes were really invented scenes because there weren't
wnough deleted scenes, or
2) There were deleted scenes that could have been in the movies but were
cut due to time constraints and really deleted scenes were scenes that
just wnet terribly wrong and had to be cut

Whaich is it?

Deleted scenes are that - scenes that were shot but left out for
various reasons

Really deleted scenes are nothing of the sort - they are spoof scenes
shot purely for the actors/directors to show off. I think they're crap
but some like them.

Perhaps deleted meant they were filmed then removed, REALLY deleted meant
they were removed from the script before filming, and only exist as
storyboards? Anyone seen it and care to comment?

I thick it hints that some extras on DVD labelled as deleted scenes is
actually footage never meant for the actual movie.

"Proper-like, really deleted scenes. know-what-I-mean. Eh ? you'll like
these, won't you sir! Oh you will. Cor blimey. nudge nudge. Extra special
additional director's cut scenes straight from the cutting room floor. "

That sort of thing, anyway.

Can't say till the DVD is released in Australia, but in a neat touch,
you get a towel with the DVD release if you pre-order...

The whole towel:

The logo and blurb:
http://www.theporch.house.cx/~nemo/gallery/incoming/Pix_7056

Except of course that I'll put this in my collection and never use it,
I have to say it's moderately decent quality, and would be quite
usefull as a handrail towel. (also, for wrapping around head,
hand-to-hand combat, makeshift loincloth, etc :)

Is the towel-deal anywhere else, or just an aussie thing?

Most nifty. I suspect both will be, to some degree, collectors items

Most of them are related to the series - the two I've tried and solved
are FISH and LIFE.

OK, I'll change it to, I suspect they are all related to the series, as
the 2 I have found are FISH and LIFE, both prominent within the series.

Right, now we're on target for a plan:

1. Find all the four letter words used in the series.
2. See if they're on the Marvin Hangman game thingy.
3. ?
4. Profit!

Or something.

I postulate that all the words in the game are likely to be nouns such
as "food", "life", "fish", as opposed to words like "that", "then",
"were". But at this point, we shouldn't be too hasty to discount them.

Once we've got a set of all 4 letter words used, I wonder how simple
it would be to generate a tree of choices that, at no point, gets more
than 5 "wrong" possibilities.

Er, not sure that that paragraph makes sense.

Hmm... I need to think on this a bit more..

According to some rough'n'ready calculations I've just done, it would
appear that there are approximately 960 distinct 4 letter words in the
first book, and about 1200 distinct 4 letter words in the entire
trilogy.

ish.

I'm not entirely convinced of those numbers (is 'zipo' a word?), and
I'm too hungry to be able work out whether or not that means it's
possible to solve all possible Marvin Hangman words without more than
5 incorrect guesses.
