Question About Nomad ("The Changeling") [message #120379] Di, 30 August 2005 01:34

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before but I don't know
the answer:

How did Nomad operate the turbolift, in order to reach the bridge?
First of all, Nomad didn't know where Lt. Uhura was, so it couldn't
command the turbolift to go to the bridge. Secondly, I thought you had
to hold on to the handle when you speak your voice commands to the
turbolift computer to tell it where to go.

If I was looking for Uhura I wouldn't have any trouble either!

The handle holding part is inconsistent. They tried to figure out if there
was a firm rule for it when they did Trials and Tribblations, and the answer
is, there's not.

Now here I would have thought the question at hand might be, 'How the
sweet frelk did a little one metre jobby manage to bork out a blob of
plasma with the energy of 90 photon torpedoes?' But yeah, 'how did it
work the turbo lift?' is a big puzzler as well.

Big question is who the hell sent out that other probe. Wasn't it on an
agricultural mission to sterilize soil samples? All of Nomad's advancements
must have come from the other probe. Who builds an agricultural probe that
can bring back the dead, and destroy all life on entire planets?

IMHO, you build an agricultural probe with that much power--if you want
it to be fully capable of defending itself. Perhaps the aliens who
built that probe were at war.

If Daystrom's M-5 multitronic computer had succeeded, it would have
converted the Enterprise into just such a probe--an automated probe for
exploration that is fully armed with phasers and photon torpedoes.

It could hover in front of a console in Engineering and seriously
upgrade the warp engines. Making an elevator go shouldn't be much more
complicated than that.

Klingon nachos are not for the faint of heart... or for those species
with a sense of smell, either.

It was an agricultural sample probe built to government specifications.

Speaking of that, be careful with your nachos if Kweeg is around. He has
a talent for picking the 'key nacho', which if taken, takes pretty much
all the toppings with it in one big cheesy mass. I've seen him do it.

I think we're starting to lose sight of the real question here, which
is what do I think about this? If this topic doesn't tell you more

Well, I have it recorded on DVD-R, but I don't have the
