Since nobody seems to actually READ my news page... [message #26] Do, 24 März 2005 10:15

There's not only been a huge update on the official site, but there's a
completely NEW "official" site opened up for UK audiences.

http://www.thefilmfactory.co.uk/hitchhikers

Oodles of "hidden" goodies (easy enough to find throughout the site)... a
completely different site from the "official" American site.

/* begin rant */
I love sharing this kind of stuff in newsgroups as well as on the site, but
as a full time webmaster (who has put in about 16 hours a day lately on
HHGTTGOnline.com), I get frustrated when I hit a DA fan group and there's
not even a single post about this fairly signifigant event, despite the
fact that it's been out for a couple of days now... Don't you guys ever
read those things?
/* end rant */

Note that the above was not intended as a fight-starter... Just re-read it
and it might come across that way. Sorry for any confusion.

Well, personally I read only Simo's site[19.4] , sorry. There are lots
of sites that I should read to be a proper fan, it seems. I mean, at
least your page, Nicolas Botti's page, The Duke's page and Simo's page
springs to mind with no trouble. And I just can't find the enthusiasm to
read that much, I love Douglas' work, but not necessarily all the fan
work too...

All the important stuff tend to turn up on all the pages anyway, when
there's something good on any page, it invariably turns up at Simo's...
So I just stick to that.

That said, I read a lot of the stuff on Simo's page delightedly, but
unless I have some comment to make or want to discuss on the froup, I
simply expect other people to read Simo's page as well, because, well,
it's easily the most complete and concise page, though not the prettiest
or with the longest articles... :-), and certainly the most celebrated
in the froup.

Thus I have noticed the British page on Simo's site, although it seems
you actually got the story first, but I hadn't anything to comment on,
so I didn't post it to the froup.

On the whole, almost any story Simo posts should be postet to the froup,
if we tried to be what the name indicates, a news group. As it is, we
are more a fan community and discuss as much internally as on topic, and
enjoy it a lot.

So it's not really because we don't appreciate your work, it's just that
that's not really what this froup is about, at least not exclusively.

I forgot to say, though, that I really like the new site. It's great,
and actually reveals a few more photos than the "real" site, as far as I
can see...

thnk god this does work on mozilla 1.7.5-6 linux browsers =]

([off topic ps.] concerning the official movie site, yep, I tested it on
1.7.6 as well + flash7 (my other test was with 1.7.5). It didn't work
there either. I tried to get a flash6 plugin but it wouldn't run)

I agree. To be perfectly honest, I load MJ's site about 4 times a day...
"just in case", you know? After all, he's a professional reporter and
pretty much in the loop, so to speak, so I get a large chunk of my own
updates from him.

Only managed to beat him to the punch on one thing so far, the huge update
on the official American site. I updated my own site about it, of course,
and then sent off an email to MJ and the Duke... and while I was doing
that, someone else had already started a thread on DAC.

(Insert weary sigh...) ;)
