We all know them - it's the bit in the movie or book that
you can see coming, know it's going to be fun/interesting/action-packed,
and that the director/author has really enjoyed doing.
Have we got such a thing in Discworld?
I would say there are certain set pieces that are recognisable
e.g. Granny's tenacity in certain circumstances, Nanny's ... um
....liberality
with the opposite sex, Carrot's karisma ... etc
I've always been a sucker for the Wizard's bit (en masse).
Where you get Ridcully et al being loud and thaumic.
It's one of the reason's I love Reaper Man with Windle Poons
How about the rest of you?

A magical crisis has arisen late in the night. The wizards, witches,
Watch, or the Patrician are roused to deal with the situation. They do
not have time to dress... Bedroom wear is interesting. Revealing...
no, not like that. Both Mort and Grimes end up in ladies' bedrooms
when they didn't expect to, if I recall right. They're a lot pinker
than Granny Weatherwax's, which we did visit early in _Equal Rites_ and
I'm not sure about ever again - she does her Borrowing that way but
it's explained in, um, _Lords and Ladies_ that due to several similar
misunderstandings she now holds onto a card reading "I Aten't Dead"
when she, um, goes. (ONE HESITATES TO CONTRADICT A LADY, HOWEVER, THE
FACT OF THE MATTER - "Game of poker?")

Granny doing something she's not supposed to be able to do, or Nanny
understanding a situation first and steering past the part that would make
Granny angry.

I've only just recently finished reading Lords & Ladies, and the bit's of
the story that kept my attention most were the beautifully written
romantic scenes between not just Granny and Ridcully, but also, Nanny Ogg
and Casanunda. Once I'd started reading the darn love & charisma bit's, I
couldn't put the book down till I'd finished the love scene - Magrat and
the king seemed rather dull and boring in comparison, don't you agree?
All the best

Nanny blindly ignorant to Greebo no longer being a lovable little kitten
- if he ever was that is.
