I've read everything I can find about good ole Tom. So, who is he? He
was first. Who the hell can he be? Eru Illuvatars' first attempt a
Vala? His presence in Arda? And let's not forget about Goldberry...

You answered your own question. Tom is the devil or someone from
thereabouts, the "oldest living in the world", a character not unlike
Sotuknang ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sotuknang ) of the Hopi
Indians, and Goldberry is his mate, _Spider Woman_
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teotihuacan_Spider_Woman

His created the first world, Tokpela, which had "land, water and air."
Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hopi_mythology .

Wood, water and hill.

It isn't just the creative feminine which has been neglected in
mythology, but also the creative "alive" masculine. Not many of the
other gods in myths create anything, they are all just fighters and
spoiled brats. Tom Bombadil is one of the "old" types of creative and
withdrawn entities.

I like what you write. Although the e-text mainly focuses on the fact
that Tom likes to hear himself talk, that he cannot sing and that
Goldberry is sick of him;-) I think we have a very wise and admirable
Hero here, who, like you say, for once is not a warrior.
