The new Guitar Player has Dweezil and Steve Vai on the cover. Fairly
standard comments from both. Dweezil at least acknowledges that other
cover bands might be helping grow FZ's audience in their own ways while
not backing away from the assertion that his project is better.

For me, the most interesting feature was a short interview with Joe
Travers. He mentions (again) that Trance Fusion is the next scheduled
release and that they need to get a budget to fix the synch problems
with the Roxy video footage. Also, there is a picture of the vault
(which looks remarkably like the Dead's vault), although it is not
possible to read any of the dates on the tape boxes.

seems like he's one happy camper who doesn't have to worry about what the
dial of his wrist watch tells him. Living his life happily in a state of
perpetual Time Fusion.

Having seen Banned from Utopia 2x and Project Object something like 6x,
I do honestly think that ZpZ was "better". I hope that if the ZpZ
concept continues, that DZ allows himself some flexibility in
"interpreting" the tunes a bit, just because recreating the versions on
Roxy or whatever, while noble and impressive, doesn't strike me at all
as what FZ was about.

Agreed. I enjoyed the Phoenix show -- warts and all -- but the Dweez
didn't look like we was having any fun. And he has the stage presence
of a lox. I am fully convinced that when he came out on stage to start
the show early (due to technical problems, we didn't get any of the
video stuff), most of the audience thought he was a roadie.

It could be that this first time out, he was SO concerned about getting
it right that it was more of a task for him than something fun to do.
It will be interesting to hear how the next leg of the tour turns out.
