The last season of ST Enterprise was mostly a way for the writers
to do what they wanted. And then ended as bad as the first episode
of season 2, Shockwave started, about as satisfying as broccoli
to a child. In all of Star Trekdom not once did they have one
homosexual kiss, even though they broke the race barrier with
the first black kissing a white on TV. Even though Sulu is gay,
I guess they found a cure for homosexuality in the 24 century.
What a let down Enterprise turned out to be.

That's not true, there was an episode of Deep Space Nine ("Rejoined") when
one of Dax's former lovers comes to the station and even though Dax is now
Jadzia (a female) the romance is relit and the two women kiss (homosexual).
This was a first at the time it aired, no lesbian kissing was seen on TV at
that time, although IIRC it hardly created more than a murmer.
The following is taken from the Wikipedia entry on Deep Space Nine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Deep_Space_Nine
"DS9 is also notable for breaking several cultural taboos during its run.
Most prominent among these is the issue of homosexuality. Gay and
gay-friendly fans of the franchise had been waiting for a Star Trek
television spinoff to address how the utopian society dealt with the issue
of sexual orientation since Gene Roddenberry had promised to tackle the
issue in 1987. While Star Trek: The Next Generation would occasionally
gingerly address the issue through gender identity, DS9 had several episodes
with lesbian kisses, and while none of the crewmembers were gay, certain
characters and episodes seemed to have a high level of homoerotic subtext."
"The first same-sex kiss on a Star Trek television series was shown in the
episode "Rejoined." In the episode, Jadzia Dax and another Trill named
Lenara Kahn are in love and at one point embrace in a passionate kiss. While
it was only technically a lesbian kiss, the two had been married when the
Dax symbiont was male and in love with the previous host of the Kahn
symbiont, none of the other characters expressed any shock at temporary
homosexuality. This aired a year and a half before the controversial "out of
the closet" shift in the sitcom Ellen, and would be followed up by episodes
where otherwise heteroexual characters became bisexual in an alternative
universe."
