Oooh, big bad Anakin killed a bunch of "younglings" and unaramed diplomats,
then gets his ass handed to him the first time he faces a real Jedi (I can
only imagine how quickly Yoda would have finished him off).
Lucas wrote this all wrong. He should have had Anakin beating Obi Wan on
Mustafar, THEN have Amidala show up (as opposed to her just appearing right
away). Anakin gets distracted, and Obi Wan gives him his lava bath.
Unfortunately this section (heck, the whole trilogy) suffers from this poor
writing.

That works for me.
One definately would assume that Anakin had power beyond Obi-wan's.
After all Obi-wan couldn't beat Dooku out of the two times they fought.
The first time even with help from Anakin. Shame Dooku ran like Forrest
before Yoda could take him out.
Anakin finished him off on his own on the occasion of their second
fight.
So it seems Dooku was stronger than Obi-wan, and Anakin was stronger
than Dooku.

I'm sure the temple had more than just younglings. As a matter of fact
here's a pic:

Dooku intimidated Obi-wan, Dooku made Obi-Wan his bitch real easy
because of the verbal conditioning during their first confrontation.
"Master Kenobi you disappoint me".
"surely you can do better".
Then he defeated Kenobi which made the second time around even easier
for Dooku, both times Kenobi was saved by Anakin.
Had kenobi not been so easily intimidated the fight(s) probably would
not have gone so well for Dooku, remembering back to the Maul fight
Kenobi fought much better even though technically he was defeated for
the most part he put up a much better fight and won in the end.

I also believe that Ben was aware that Anakin had begun his fall. Qui-Gon
probably drilled into Ben the numerous ways one might fall. To top it off,
he may have realized how much anger he felt against Maul during that whole
drama. I would think Ben was well aware that he could fall very easily. And
he was right. With the Sith presence all around, he could have turned if he
wasn't mindful. Unfortunately, it was almost his undoing. This is all MY
OPINION. Just want to make that clear.

I think the point was Anakin lost because of arrogance.

I have seen that several times IRL in various martial arts tournaments. "A"
gets beat by "B", "B" loses to "C", "A" beats "C".
Obi-Wan and Anakin knew each other very well which is why they were
stalemated for much of their battle. It wasn't until one made a critical
error that there was a victor.

I pulled this from the databank under Darth Maul, expanded universe.
"When the Jedi became separated, Maul killed Qui-Gon with a well-placed
saber strike. Kenobi, enraged, attacked Maul. This barrage was deflected by
Maul who used Obi-Wan's touching of the dark side as a conduit for a Force
attack; using the Force, Maul pushed Obi-Wan into a deep mining pit. Kenobi
held onto an outcropping for dear life. Calming himself by calling upon the
light side of the Force, Kenobi was able to surprise Maul, and cleave him in
half with his saber."

Apparently my ramblings were right. Ben touched the Dark Side.
