Committing an act is common english usage. Sodomy was still illegal in some places until the crooks
on the US Supreme Court struck down the Texas law in 2003. I am not sure what the status of these
laws are right now. Why would you not want to use the word which accurately describes the
central behavior in homosexuality ?
The bringing of the male procreative organ into contact with the faeces excrement of another man.

Who was Jude and where did you find his writings. Most people have simply heard of
the Beatles song. If you are talking about a Jude I read is part of the New Testament, I have not heard
of anything in the bible which conflates Sodomy with sex.

In this context, it is generally used to denote a crime.

That was one thing they got right -- there was no legitimate reason to keep
it on the books as a crime, and every reason to dispense with it.

It is not "committed", but merely *performed*.

There's no reason the act should ever necessarily include such contact, if
the anus is cleaned before sex, and a condom (or two) is used.

Second-to-last book of the NT, one single chapter, 25 verses.

If you're talking about Americans, "most people" are willing to believe the
government of Canada is run from within a large igloo. Don't talk to me
about "most people". "Most people" are morons. Of course, you're living
proof.

He's the only one who made that connection at all, and he didn't go into
detail. By and large, there is no conflation between "Sodomy" and sex. BTW,
you should be aware that "Sodomy" may be performed from a frontal position
-- anal entry can be achieved from positions other than "doggie-style".

Not particularly. You can commit money to a project. Resources to a cause.
Troops to a battle. None of which have a pejorative connotation.
However, Sodomy has been a crime in various independent countries all over the world,
all over time.

How about the democratic will of the people, who passed that law in the first place ?

The word "Sodomy".

How does one clean the human excretory orifice before homosex. Fisting ?

So let us hear the quote from the Jude book that links Sodomy and normal sex together.

As I say to the average citizen, these people consider you nothing more than a piece of trash,
to be manipulated, used, abused, and/or run over.

I cranked up my PDF bible again and found some reference to Sodomy:

==========excerpt==bible--Jude============================== =======
1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication,
and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil hedisputed about the body of Moses,
durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
============================================================ ==

I have no idea what he is talking about with reference to Peter, the Devil and the body of Moses.
Maybe some experts here can explain this.

What part of the word "context" do you find the most confusing?

>>> Sodomy was still illegal in some places until the crooks

"The people" did no such thing, but even if they had, it would not have been
constitutional. "Sodomy", as a crime, harms no one, but only upsets the
religious wackos, who desperately need for their stress over such things to
give them coronaries, strokes, aneurysms, or whatever else might put them
out of everyone else's misery (as well as their own).

Yes, "sodomy" (or rather, any sexual act) is *performed*.

Toilet paper, generally. A wet cloth will also do nicely.

"Normal" sex is sex that involves one or more persons getting off, together
if more than one. Period. You're not getting my point about Jude at all,
are you? He was one of the latest authors in that tome, his epistle was
very short, and he was pretty much just talking out his arse about Sodom &
Gomorrah, which were destroyed two thousand years or more before his time.
Earlier authors made it clear that those cities were guilty of atrocious
degrees of inhospitality, which was inspired by paranoia about spies and
saboteurs (with which many Americans seem able to identify very closely),
which in turn came about because they were wont to treat the poor, orphans,
the elderly, and so on with contempt, disdain, disrespect, and criminal
charges (allegedly, they did all this because they worshipped Ba'al-Molech)
for those who showed them kindness and compassion. That is, as far as the
OT had it -- archaeologists have discovered that they were destroyed by far
more mundane means than those which were said.

Essentially, the Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah is hogwash, and all
parables about it are based on hogwash.

You mean the Xian loonies running both the GOP and the Conservative Party of
Canada? Yeah, I believe you. The neo-cons used to be in charge, but they're
on their way out -- too many fuck-ups. Iraq, al-Qaeda, Plamegate, Katrina,
and the list just won't *stop*!

Moses' body was allegedly never found (Deut 34), but considering that the
whole Egyptian exile, the forty-year wander and the "re-taking" of Canaan
*NEVER* *HAPPENED* (King David never had an empire stretching from the Nile
to the Euphrates, either -- strictly just a small tribal kingdom), I can't
really say that this is surprising.
