Interesting discussion here.

In the days that I was day dreaming about being a true godzilla self (human
sized, maybe a bit anthropomorphic), I was thinking about the army. It was
the logical choice since I was created from a top secret experience from
some military laboratories. The army would provide with missions, infiltrate
ennemie base/ship and neutralize them (kill? :E Grrr?) etc., then, if
possible, I would try my scales in movies. :D

I wouldn't do the military. (Draft me? No, /you/ draft /this/!!). I'm
not going to participate in humans fighting humans. If I was attacked,
however, I /would/ defend myself, as well as my friends, but I wouldn't
become anyone's tool.

Hmm. Well, as others have pointed out, food would be a major issue to
consider. I could "live wild" and hunt for myself with no problem
(assuming I had adequate territory). However, if I were to hold some
sort of position in modern society, I'd probably have to live somewhere
more populated, with less wild prey--meaning I'd have to buy food, which
would be quite expensive. I suppose I could try to strike a balance,
finding a reasonable hunting ground that isn't quite so far from
civilization, although I'm not sure how feasible that is in the long
term. But this issue would likely be the largest constraint on any
potential occupational choice--I'd either need enough open space to hunt,
or to make enough money to feed a dragon. I'm pretty sure the former is
easier. ]:-8)~

So academia is probably my top choice (at a sufficiently remote campus).
Perhaps search-and-rescue. Probably not military or construction; I'd
hate to compete against machinery for my job. I have a different
objection to offering transportation services, as some others have
suggested--I *don't* want to be viewed as a common mode of transportation
(taxi/charter flight/horse), nor as a novelty (space shuttle tourism,
circus animals). I don't care if they would pay me--I have no problem
carrying humans places, but only if they actually respected me as an
individual and not as a mode of transport or a thrill ride.

Alternatively (and this would fit better with the "living wild" option),
I could hire out services as a...special type of guard. For a fee, I'll
keep something for you, and guard it as part of my hoard. I'll give it
back freely, but only to you. Like a safe-deposit box, except with teeth
and fiery breath. ]:-8)~

Oh certainly. If I went in that direction myself I would make it very clear
that I was an individual and not a thrill ride (except kids), novelty, or
'taxi'.
"I'm happy to carry you around for money, but I'm no bus and I ain't no space

Well, there's the fire way, or the sacrificial altar and knife. There's
the dowsing in liquid, like holy water or unholy water, sacramental wine,
whatever..... You could also pray, either on your knees or standing over
the sacrifice, or chant, or sing, or hum, or be silent and think out your
prayers.....

OK, perhaps it's not so easy to determine a single method, but it sure is
fun to think of them!! };=8Þ

Nah, see, dragons are exceedingly lazy. We'd much rather acquire our hoard
