Ensign Roe Vs. Deanna. Hmmm.

A STATUE? No! A portrait is sufficient.

According to the Titan novels, Riker's first officer is Christine Vale,
who was Chief of Security on the Enterprise-E in the "A Time to"
series. Vale is basically Tasha Yar with another name. Some other
familiar faces on board Titan are Alyssa Ogawa, Melora Pazlar and
Tuvok.
I have to admit, though, it would be kind of cool seeing Ro Laren
serving under Riker (wink wink, nudge nudge).

Ro has a nasty thought about Will, 5 minutes later Deanna walks
into the room, grabs Ro by the back of the head, and drives her
face first into a display panel. LOL

Yes, 7 is back on the rocks looking out on the ocean except with no dress
on.
Her ex husband would be all for it! Ok, that was mean. Bad Tim!

He had a 7 but wanted a 10.

Come on. Troi looks like Shelly Winters these days. She could kill
her with that damned annoying accent, though.

The original NCC-1701 looked like a navel ship, but space fairing. The
ships that came after them looked like modern cars (rat turds with windows,
as my father referred to them). Even the refitted Enterprise from ST:TMP
retained its ship appearance (the sweeping pylons, reminded me of 57 Chevy
fins). Starting with TNG the designers started streamlining the ships for
no reason, too the point they looked like plastic toys (likely to cut the
cost of making miniatures for sale as toys). While NCC-1701 was a long and
tall proud ship, the TNG Enterprise looked like something that the parts
were pressed out of cookie dough and assembled and spray painted. I just
never liked that ship, it was ugly from day one. The most remembered scenes
in the movies was the battle shots from ST:TWOK. Two beautiful vessels in
battle with each other. The action of the USS Reliant firing those
broadsides into USS Enterprise early in the movie, harking back to naval
battles of the past, brings the sense that we are not seeing a fight between
two space ships, but two navel ships.
A few years back when I owned a barge and would idle out from the dock
in the no wake zone, I would see yahoo rednecks returning from bass fisun in
there 120houspowur bass bouts, nearly swamping smaller craft. You see they
can't operate the throttle and steer and the same time because their right
hand is their beer holding hand. As they passed on my left, I would
remember that broadside scene and fantasize about unloading on their asses.

You want navel battles in space, you should try reading the "Honor
Harrington" series of novels and short stories by David Weber.

Just to be a pedant, I think you both mean "naval". A "navel" battle would
be some kind of strange thing involving rubbing bellies together and I don't
think I want to go any further with that thought. All I can be sure of is
that Shatner would win it, unless he was up against Frakes, in which case
it's too close to call.

You vicious, pedantic bastard! Hee, naw, just kidding you. I
always get navel/naval confused. And after all these years, I
finally sorted out duel/dual -- somebody told me to think of Clint
Eastwood, whose name begins with an "e", when I wanted to remember
which was the duel to the death. ("Do you feel lucky, punk?") I
thin I'm going to stick with this method, and remember navel as
the one with the eye in it -- because it has an "e" and eye begins
with an "e"; and a navel looks something like an eye. That should
do the trick.
